4 Sec ago - ## Gladiator 2: Rise of the Retiarius Ridiculous
The sands of the Colosseum were, once again, thirsty for blood. But this time, the crowd wasn't baying for lions or battling barbarians. They craved something… weirder.
Maximus Decimus Meridius, Commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius, father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife… was now judging a gladiatorial cooking competition.
"This… this is not what I envisioned for the afterlife," Maximus muttered, adjusting his laurel wreath, which was slightly askew thanks to a rogue pigeon.
You see, after defeating Commodus (again, long story involving a rogue time-traveling historian and a particularly potent bottle of fermented grapes), Maximus found himself back in Rome. Only this time, gladiatorial combat had evolved. Turns out, after centuries of "Are you not entertained?!", the Roman populace was… bored.
So, they spiced things up. Literally.
The first contestant, a hulking Gaul named Biggus Thickus (yes, THAT Biggus Thickus), presented his signature dish: "Gaulish Surprise," a questionable stew featuring snails, boar intestines, and an alarming amount of cheese.
"It… uh… certainly has a… presence," Maximus commented diplomatically, subtly hiding behind his judging paddle.
Next up was a nervous retiarius named Fibulus, who, instead of a net and trident, wielded a whisk and spatula. His specialty? "Flaming Flavian Flan."
Fibulus, however, was prone to stage fright. As he attempted a dramatic flip of the flan, his toga caught fire. The ensuing chaos involved a screaming Fibulus, a runaway chariot (don't ask), and a very unfortunate senator’s wig.
Maximus sighed. He missed fighting tigers. At least they didn't scream about burnt custard.
The final contestant was a surprisingly buff Roman matron named Cornelia, whose dish, "Venus’ Vengeance," was a fiery chili guaranteed to melt even the stoniest of hearts (and intestines). The crowd roared with delight as the judges, including a bewildered Maximus, sampled the inferno in a bowl.
"By Jupiter's beard!" Maximus exclaimed, tears streaming down his face. "This is…magnificent! Though, perhaps a tad less ghost pepper next time?"
Cornelia beamed, flexing her biceps. "Only the best for the champion!"
As Cornelia was crowned the winner, a pigeon landed on Maximus's head, depositing a generous "gift."
"Are you not entertained?" a voice boomed from the crowd.
Maximus, covered in pigeon droppings and smelling faintly of burnt flan, could only groan. "Just get me back to Elysium," he muttered. "Please."
The afterlife couldn't be any worse than this. Could it? (Cue post-credit scene featuring zombie gladiators craving brains… and better cooking skills).
