## Saturday Night

Logline: A widowed grandfather, weary of quiet Saturdays, decides to crash his grandson's college party, rediscovering a zest for life he thought long gone, and teaching a few young'uns a thing or two about truly living.

Scene: A dimly lit, raucous college house party. Music thumps, bodies sway, red plastic cups abound.

Characters:

Arthur (78): Immaculately dressed, silver-haired, and surprisingly spry.
Ethan (20): Arthur's grandson, a slightly awkward college student.
Chloe (21): A bright and bubbly art student.
DJ Bro-seph (22): The stereotypical party DJ, overly enthusiastic.


(The camera pans over the chaotic scene, finally settling on Ethan, nervously clutching a lukewarm beer in the corner.)


Ethan (muttering to himself): Grandpa would kill me if he knew I was here.

(Suddenly, Arthur appears behind him, dapper in a tweed jacket and a mischievous glint in his eye.)

Arthur: Relax, son. Rigor mortis hasn’t set in yet. Besides, a little birdie told me about the "epic rager."

(Ethan chokes on his beer.)

Ethan: Grandpa?! What are you doing here?!

Arthur: Same as everyone else, Ethan. Looking for a good time. Although, this music could use a little more Glenn Miller.

(Arthur winks at a bewildered Chloe who happens to be walking by.)

Chloe: (laughing) Glenn Miller? That’s… vintage.

Arthur: Vintage, like a fine wine. You wouldn’t judge a Cabernet by its cork, would you?

(Chloe, intrigued, starts chatting with Arthur. He tells her stories about his youth, his late wife, and his days as a jazz musician. Ethan watches in stunned silence.)

(Later, Arthur finds himself near DJ Bro-seph.)

Arthur: Son, mind if I make a request?

DJ Bro-seph: Uh, sure, gramps. Whatcha want? Some… Perry Como?

(Arthur shakes his head, pulling out a vinyl record from his bag. It's a rare jazz pressing.)

Arthur: Try this on for size. Guaranteed to get these youngsters moving.


(DJ Bro-seph, skeptical, puts on the record. The music starts, a vibrant, swinging jazz tune. At first, the partygoers are confused. Then, one by one, they start tapping their feet, then swaying, then full-on dancing. Arthur takes Chloe's hand and leads her in a graceful swing dance. Ethan, emboldened, joins in with another student.)

(The party atmosphere transforms. The chaotic energy becomes focused, joyful. People are connecting, laughing, genuinely enjoying themselves.)


(Later, as the party winds down, Arthur sits on the porch swing with Ethan.)


Ethan: I… I don’t know what to say, Grandpa. You were… amazing.

Arthur: Nonsense. Just showing these youngsters how to truly live. Life's too short to spend your Saturdays being boring.

(Arthur pats Ethan on the knee.)
