The speed of the balls seem sluggish at times. I've cleared all cookies and cache. The problem doesn't appear to be my computer. Thoughts?

Downloaded the latest flash. Helps a little but still sluggish at times. Could the number of players on line at the same time have any effect on the speed of the play?

No the number of players should not affect the performance.
You can also try to switch off other running applications
